VA.gov Design System
Audit & Alignment of a Complex, Evolving Enterprise Design System
- Audited the VA Design System against USWDS v3, identifying misalignment across roughly one-third of reviewed component categories.
- Proactively surfaced cross-system design drift before it scaled across VA.gov.
- Updated local Figma component libraries to prevent propagation of outdated patterns during active product work.
- Contributed to full VADS compliance with USWDS v3, strengthening design consistency and implementation readiness across VA.gov.
Batten Disease Memorial
An Interactive Memorial for Learning, Reflection, and Remembrance
- Designed a standalone, touch-screen interactive experience outside traditional web constraints.
- Created end-to-end visual systems—including branding, style guides, and 3D kiosk visualizations—to bring the physical installation to life.
- Produced flows and wireframes that aligned front-end interaction with back-end logic, enabling smooth implementation.

Preferred tools
Figma is key to rapid interactive design and prototyping; Photoshop, Illustrator, & Premiere are the old standbys for visual and video design and editing; VS Code and Windsurf for no-frills or AI development; I choose tools based on the needs of the project.
The Advent of AI
AI changes how fast we can work, not what good design requires. I have used it to remove friction from execution and expand my skillset while relying on experience, judgment, and UX fundamentals to guide decisions and shape thoughtful, human-centered outcomes.
